COMPASSION CLEMENT MISSION (CCM) HAS THE LAND!

In was in August of 2007, when Sheba Sunayana from Hyderabad, India came to the United States in search of help for the 153 orphan children she had taken into her care. These children were abandoned on the streets and left to beg or die. Sheba said that many of the children are sold into slavery, enter prostitution, or are sacrificed to the Hindu gods. I had the opportunity to see the movie, “Slumdog Millionaire” with Sheba when she was here in February. Her comment was that the picture portrayed the slums and poverty in India very realistically. Sheba said, “I took pity on the children I saw in the streets and I knew that I had to try and do something.” With the help of her mother and some friends they were able to rent a very small two room building to serve as their dining hall, school room, play room, and bedroom. One wall of the structure was missing and when it rained everything got wet. However, it did not take long before the building was filled with children to capacity.

With the help of friends Sheba was able to provide clothing, food, medicine, temporary shelter, and teachers to help these children. However, her dream was to own land and be able to build permanent structures, have fresh water, grow vegetables and keep animals, as well as provide a safe place for the children to run and play. That dream has come true! Thanks to the many churches, businesses, and individuals CCM was able to purchase 4 acres of prime real estate and begin to realize their dream. On April 14, Sheba called from India to say that the land has been officially registered with the India government and the landowners have been paid in full. They took all of the children to the land, where they danced, prayed, sang, and played for over two hours. Sheba said the children did not want to leave and couldn’t understand why they couldn’t stay there. Can you imagine the excitement for these children to have that much room to safely run and play and make all the noise they wanted?

Now that the land has been secured, we continue to need your support.

The current needs are:

  • $3000 for new electric service and wiring.
  • $3000 a water well with motor.
  • $12,000 for a 12 room temporary shelter with separate dining/kitchen area.
  • $3000 for iron fence.

We will keep you updated here on our site as to our progress. May God Bless you and yours.
