Brief Notes - This and that

fair.gif (3142 bytes) We will be at the Allegany County Fair from July 16 through the 20th.  Be sure to stop by and say “Hello”.  A special “Thank you” to Gary and Nancy Link, and Nicole Wesche for decorating our booth, and also a Big Thank you to all who volunteered to “man” the booth.

 NOTE

The August Telco will contain April & May Congregational & Council minutes due to lack of a quorum for the June Meeting.

 LADIES AID

Fourteen ladies joined together and enjoyed a nice spring evening of fellowship. After President June led us in devotions a short business meeting was held.

Shelly Dunne thanked everyone for their help with the funeral luncheons. She also stated plans for the upcoming sesquicentennial activities through our church are moving along nicely. Marge Vossler also noted tentative plans are being made for “Music in the Pavilion” this September, benefiting the daycare.

We closed the meeting by reciting the Lord’s Prayer. This was followed by a presentation by Tina Wightman on the many uses of lavender. Who would have guessed a pretty plant could be so important. Treats were prepared by Dot Cornish and Pauline Brown. The cookies and ice cream were enjoyed by all!

FINAL NOTE FROM PRESCHOOL

As the Preschool Era comes to a close at Trinity . . . I wish to extend a heartfelt Thank You to the congregation and all of its organizations for their support for 22 years. Over the years many groups and individuals in the church have supported us in many ways. Thank you to all of our present and former board members, we couldn't have done it without you. A special Thank You goes out to all of the church families that have allowed us to be a part of your children’s lives.  It is sad to see the Preschool end but knowing that the Daycare will continue our ministry with young children in our area makes it a little easier.

 Thank you again to everyone,

Nancy Link

JUDGE NOT!

I was shocked, confused, bewildered as I entered Heaven’s door, not by the beauty of it all, by the lights or its décor.

But it was the folks in Heaven who made me sputter and gasp
—the thieves, the liars, the sinners, the alcoholics, and trash.

There stood the kid from seventh grade who swiped my lunch money twice,
Next to him was my old neighbor who never said anything nice

Herb, who I always thought was rotting away in hell,
Was sitting pretty on cloud nine, looking incredibly well.

I nudged Jesus, “What’s the deal? I would love to hear Your take.
How’d all these sinners get up here? God must’ve made a mistake.

And why’s everyone so quiet, so somber? Give me a clue.”
“Hush, child,” said He. “They’re all in shock. No one thought that they’d see you.”

DORCAS

Thanks to Mary Benz for her recent donation of material to Dorcas.  The ladies tied one large multi-colored quilt on June 5th and Betty pinned the edges on a large quilt.  Eleanor read an article explaining “Repentance is an action verb.”

The June 11th meeting and luncheon was cancelled due to several conflicts.  Dorcas will not meet during July and August. Have a great summer! Regular work sessions for Dorcas will resume September 10th.

 THANK YOU ALL!

I would like to thank everyone for over the past eleven years for the support and friendships I have made. That is the part of the job I will miss. A special thanks to Pastor Morris for his support and all he’s done for me (There’s not another Pastor like him).

Also thank you for the party you gave me, it was very nice. I enjoyed all the people together and the cake was good too!

 VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL:  Our 2007 Vacation Bible School will be held from Monday, August 13th through Friday, August 17th.  This year’s theme is “Quest For The Truth” which emphasizes that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  (In other words, Jesus is the Savior from sin, death, and the devil.)  Each day will begin at 5:30 PM with a light dinner.  From 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM we will have Bible stories, crafts, music, and games.   Even though VBS is over a month away, please begin to pray for God’s guidance and blessing.  Also, be sure to spread the word about our VBS to children in your neighborhood.   Finally, consider volunteering to help.   A sign-up sheet will be on the church lounge table beginning June 10th listing positions for which help is needed.
