Congregational Meeting
Abbreviated Minutes

On September 17, 2007 the Church Council meeting opened with a devotional and prayer from Betty Wood. Members in attendance were Fran Lanphier, Dick Kling, Barry Dunne, Lois Flurschutz, Jim Helms, Kay McCulloch, Betty Wood and Cathy Farwell. Elders reported that they are currently working on reorganizing the ushers. Dick Kling reported that after the sauerkraut is cut we are going to work on converting the old store room into a nice new area for our Youth Group. Also our President wanted to remind us that elections are coming up on November 25th. Daycare is going to send two representatives to a convention in Hershey, PA in the near future as well. And finally, Betty Wood is beginning a new bible Study entitled "How to make your kids mind without losing yours" and says everyone is welcome to attend.

The complete minutes and all committee reports are available in the church office.

Thrivent

It is election time again. All benefit members, age 16 and over should have received a ballot in the mail. This election is for the NATIONAL Board of Directors. These ballots must be returned to Appleton, Wisconsin and postmarked by Nov. 30.

On Sunday, November 11, the local chapter elections will be held following church service during coffee hour. All members, benefit and associate member age 16 and over should take advantage of this opportunity. Thrivent will supply the refreshments that Sunday.

If you can not attend church that weekend, please contact any of your congregational coordinators for a chance to vote.

Dorcas

Dorcas ladies tied six large quilts recently. Our "Thanks" to Janet Vargo for donating three large new sheets for quilt backs. Betty purchased material and batting for quilts. Betty read from Joan Collins' book Memories of Mother.
Janet, Eleanor & June attended a lovely Quilt Show at Arcade on Oct. 13th & 14th. Several truly beautiful quilts were displayed -one with 2,800 tiny pieces!

Dorcas Meeting are November 12, November 26 and Christmas work session and lunch will be held on December 10th.

Ladies Aid

quilt.gif (7979 bytes)Although the attendance was light, many issues were discussed.
Marge Vossler was pleased with the results of the fundraisers. About $1,000 was given to Daycare towards the playground. About $3,000 was raised toward our effort to help Cheryl Young. These funds were supplemented by Thrivent. Cheryl also had her choice of a lovely quilt.

President June asked for extra help to work the sauerkraut supper. Secretary Sally sent out eleven letters to recruit more workers for both the cabbage cutting and the dinner.

Also, as in previous years we issued a plea to the congregation to make apple pies for the event. Thanks in advance.

Decisions were made for dispersing of our funds, including $500 toward church utilities & to daycare. Shelly Dunne thanked the ladies for working the Heysham funeral luncheon.

We closed with the Lords Prayer. Next month's meeting will be November 13th due to the sauerkraut supper.

Respectfully submitted,
Sally Dannheim, Secretary
