A NOTE FROM DCO BETTY

The six week Bible study with Dr. Kevin Leman, entitled "How to Make Your Children Mind without Losing Yours", was a very enjoyable time and certainly very educational. Dr. Kevin Leman reminded us that God has instructed us to be in "healthy authority" over our children. Ephesians 6:1-4 says, children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother", which is the first commandment with a promise-that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth". Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord." I would like to thank the babysitters who watched the children during this time. It certainly made it easier for the parents to attend. I also would like to thank Pastor for teaching 2 of the lessons, because I needed to be in Rochester.

Once again our congregation has responded generously in reaching out to others. Seven boxes full of cake, brownie, muffin, and cookie mixes were sent to Dena Helms and members of her team who are serving in Iraq. We still need to send 5 more. It costs about $7.00 a box. If you would like to contribute towards the cost of shipping, please contact Betty Wood, DCO, our church secretary, Deb Martin or Congregational President, Fran Lanphier.

In closing, a little bit of humor:

"While working for an organization that delivers lunches to elderly shut-ins, I used to take my 4-year-old daughter on my afternoon rounds. She was unfailingly intrigued by the various appliances of old age, particularly the canes, walkers, and wheelchairs. One day I found her staring at a pair of false teeth soaking in a glass. As I braced myself for the inevitable barrage of questions, she merely turned and whispered, "The tooth fairy will never believe this!"
