A NOTE FROM DCO BETTY |

 Well here
it is January 2008! What happened to 2007? Where does the time go? Just like most
people, I had sat down and was starting to think of goals for the coming year. As I made a
list, I was amazed at how long it was becoming and how a heavy, sinking feeling came over
me that I was not going to be able to do it all. I was getting discouraged and I
hadn’t even started yet. Do you feel that way sometimes? I think it is times like
this that God wants us to stop and think about our priorities. As the Psalmist writes in
Psalm 46:10, 11: “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the
nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of
Jacob is our fortress.” It was at this point that I needed to remind myself that God
is in control and He will lead us. Our job is to place ourselves in His path and let God
work through us. God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called. Having
realized that I can’t do it all, I relaxed. Now I am focused on what is important!
First the need to worship, pray, read and study God’s word, and to participate in
Holy Communion. Yes, there will be deeds, but God will be in charge, not me. Somehow that
takes the pressure off and makes it more exciting to serve Him. “Be not afraid, O
land; be glad and rejoice. Surely the Lord has done great things. Joel 2:21. “Let us
serve Him and hold fast to Him”. Deuteronomy 13:4. May God richly bless our Outreach
here at Trinity this coming year. Please pray for Trinity Christian Daycare; Sheba
Sunayana and the 153 orphans in India; our shut-ins; and all the leaders in our
congregation. |
